Clearing the cache on your browser
Every so often, you may need to clear the cache on your browser. This can speed up your browser and ensure you have the latest version of the software from the website you’re looking at.
Below are the main steps to take for both Windows and Mac computers although the options might be slightly different depending on your operating system and version of the browser.
If your browser is slightly different, please consult the browser’s help and support or use Google to get the latest instructions.
Note: You can also try refreshing the browser first before clearing the cache. See this page for more information.
- Click Safari in the upper left-hand side of your screen. In the menu that appears, click Preferences.
- In the window that appears, click the Privacy tab. Click the button Remove All Website Data.
- Click Remove Now in the pop-up window that appears.
- Open Chrome.
- Click History, then click Show Full History and then Clear browsing data.
- A keyboard shortcut to access the Clear browsing data window is Control + Shift + Delete for Windows and Command + Shift + Delete for Mac – This also works for Opera, Chrome and Firefox.
- Under Clear browsing data, select the checkboxes for Cookies and site data and Cached images and files.
- Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete.
- From the History menu, select Clear Recent History.
- A keyboard shortcut to access the Clear browsing data window is Control + Shift + Delete for Windows and Command + Shift + Delete for Mac – This also works for Opera, Chrome and Firefox.
- From the Time range to clear, click on the drop-down menu, select the desired range or to clear your entire cache select Everything.
- Next to Details, click the down arrow to choose which elements of the history to clear. To clear your entire cache select all items.
- Open Microsoft Edge Browser and click on the Hub icon (three horizontal lines at top bar) and then click History Icon.
- Now click Clear all history.
- Now select Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click Clear.
- That’s it. You will see the All Clear! message.
If you are still using Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 9, 10 or 11, you can clear the cache as follows:
- Select Tools (via the Gear Icon), Click Safety and then Delete browsing history.
- Make sure to uncheck Preserve Favourites website data and check both Temporary Internet Files and Cookies then click Delete.
Note: Microsoft Internet Explorer is not supported. For better performance and more secure browser, please update to the latest version of Microsoft Edge or alternative.
- Click on the Opera button in the top left corner, select Settings and then click Delete Private Data.

- Click on Detailed Options to show the rest of the options. Make sure only the following are checked: Delete temporary cookies.
